Animation & Film

The following is a sample of some of my animated projects from film, games, and education. While I work on getting the site more robust after my transition from a static portfolio site, I’ll offer these links to the video files, along with brief descriptions.

The Dork of the Rings

‘Dork’ was released in 2006 at GenCon Indianapolis. I am currently the webmaster for the site promoting the film, and during post production, I was an artist. I was responsible for the big
“Lardor” shot featuring the 3D Piggy Bank.I also textured “Mauron’s Tower” from the same scene, and created the spell animations for the “Internet Troll” scene. I’m also the guy in the 80lbs. of network cables and computer parts.

I’ve included a trailer for context (below). See the “3D & Game Art” section for more details on this project.

The Free Rider

The award-winning 16mm film from my days at Indiana University. It has shown in two regional film festivals, and was shot and edited on a $2000 budget in 2002 with a strict, three day shooting schedule and one week in post-production.

My main responsibility in the film was audio recording during production, and editing and synching during production. The audio was recorded on a separate device from the 16mm film, and synchronization had to be done in post.

Using animated sequences from previous classes, I was charged with taking those animations and making something watchable with a beginning, middle, and end, and with strong and meaningful camera angles and lighting.

Zimri’s Seal

The introduction and ending movies for “Zimri’s Seal” project from The Art Institute Online “Game Production Team” class, where I was producer and lead designer. The shots were all taken in the Neverwinter Nights engine, and voiceovers provided by myself and my wife.

See the “Game Design” section for more information about the game and to download the mod itself.
